Home Safety Track
Safety starts at home, where people spend most of their time and where children grow up and learn their habits. Promoting home safety protects family members from common injuries and prevents potentially tragic accidents that could have been prevented with simple measures. Our association views home safety as the cornerstone of an informed society and focuses its efforts on sub-tracks that include the safety of the most vulnerable (children, the elderly and infants) as well as the prevention of household hazards (such as fire, electricity and toxic substances) and the proper handling of household emergencies.
Safety for the elderly
Seniors face special challenges at home that require extra attention. With age, balance, vision and hearing can be impaired, making falls and slips and trips a major risk. Studies show that approximately one-third to one-half of people over the age of 65 may experience a fall every year in the Kingdom. These accidents can lead to serious fractures or head injuries that can be life-changing for the elderly. Our initiatives focus on:
- Optimizing the home environment
- Using assistive technologies
- Awareness and training
Children's safety
Children are the spice of life, and their safety at home is a top priority. However, their curiosity and curiosity can put them at risk if the home is not adequately secured. The statistics are alarming: More than 74% of child injuries occur at home, according to some studies, emphasizing the need for safer home environments. Our efforts are focused on:
- Parental awareness
- Preparing the home for the baby
- Pediatric first aid training
- School outreach
Infant safety
Infants are the most vulnerable and dependent, and need constant supervision and vigilance to ensure their safety. Accidents can happen silently and quickly. Our initiatives include:
- Raising awareness about safe infant sleep
- Providing baby supplies
- Safety on the go
- First aid for infants
- Safe products
Household fires
Fires are one of the most dangerous incidents that can occur at home, threatening lives and property in an instant. Unfortunately, home fires are more common than we think – they account for about 65% of all fire incidents in the Kingdom. Many of these fires can be prevented with simple precautionary measures, which is why our organization focuses on:
- Awareness of common causes of fires
- Providing home safety equipment
- Evacuation plans and family training
- Maintenance and prevention
Electrical safety
Electricity is an indispensable part of our daily lives, but at the same time it can be a source of serious danger if misused or neglected. Electrical fires and shocks make up a large percentage of household accidents, so it’s important to have an electrically safe home:
- Periodic inspection and safe wiring.
- Safe behavior
- Dealing with electrocution
- “Home without Electrical Hazards” initiative
By adopting these practices , we turn electricity from a lurking danger to a faithful servant, so that appliances and lights work efficiently and safely without sudden accidents disrupting family life.
Toxic substances and poisoning
From kitchen and bathroom cleaners, to medications, to pesticides, no home is free of chemicals that are dangerous if misused or accidentally ingested. Many cases of accidental poisoning occur at home, especially among curious children. Our efforts include:
- Securing chemicals
- Reading labels and warnings
- Awareness of safe material destruction
- Emergency and Ambulance Line
- Collaborate with pharmacies and pharmaceutical companies.
Dealing with home emergencies
Even with the highest safety standards , accidents and emergencies can happen at home. Being prepared for them can mean the difference between an incident ending peacefully or escalating into a disaster. Therefore, the association is focused on enhancing families’ emergency preparedness by:
- First aid training
- Home Emergency Kits
- Make plans for different contingencies
- Effective communication with the relevant authorities
- Home evacuation drills
In short, our goal is to make every household highly immune to accidents, through smart prevention, pre-preparedness and training, so that all family members can be safety guards for each other.
