Road Safety Track
The organization’s mission and initiatives extend beyond the boundaries of the home and workplace to include the community in all its public facilities and roads. Our daily lives include commuting, traveling, being on the streets, parks, and entertainment events. People face risks of a different kind that require awareness and caution. Road accidents in particular are one of the biggest causes of death and injury in the Kingdom and the world; theWorld Health Organization estimates that Traffic accidents kill about 1.35 million people annually around the world. It affects between 20 and 50 million people with non-fatal injuries. In Saudi Arabia, despite notable improvements in recent years, we still lose lives every year on the roads. Safety in public places – mosques, parks, recreational and sports venues, mass events, wildlife parks, beaches, airports, temporary accommodation such as hotels, etc. – needs to institutionalize best practices to prevent injuries, lost children or stampedes in crowds.
Safe Driving and Traffic Safety
Road safety starts with the driver, pedestrians and all road users. It includes several themes:
- Awareness of dangerous systems and patterns
- Training and safe practices
- Vehicle safety
- Special campaigns for targeted groups
- Collaboration with infrastructure stakeholders
The goal of these efforts is for traffic safetyto become an established culture, where the violator is not seen as a hero, but as a disregard for people’s lives. We are working towards a vision of zero road fatalities in the future. In line with the targets of the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2021-2030
Pedestrian, cyclist and scooter safety
As the culture of walking, biking, and e-scooters grows in our cities. It becomes imperative to ensure the safety of those users who are most vulnerable to cars. Our efforts include:
- Secure Infrastructure
- Awareness and training
- Pedestrians with special needs
- Preventing accidents in crowded places
Our vision is for pedestrian- and bicycle-friendly cities. This not only reduces injuries but also promotes a healthy lifestyle and reduces pollution and congestion. Safety on the road encourages people to walk and bike with confidence, which is a health and environmental win-win for everyone.
School transportation and student safety
Students’ daily journey to and from school needs to be completely safe. They are the trustees of society and the hope of the future. Unfortunately, we witnessed painful accidents in the transportation of students, whether by buses or parents’ cars. The focus of our attention:
- Driver and Supervisor Awareness
- Awareness of students
- Parental involvement
The safety of students on their school trip is a shared responsibility between the school, the driver, the parents and the traffic authorities. Our association works to unite these efforts because every child who reaches school safely and returns home safely is a success for all of us.
Safety in parks and public events
With the increase in recreational events and festivals in the Kingdom, tourism seasons and parks crowded with families on weekends , there is a need to enshrine public safety standards in entertainment venues:
- Safety in Crowd Management
- Child safety in public places
- Preventing Injuries in Parks and Wildlife
- Dealing with weather fluctuations
Providing a safe yet fun atmosphere is our goal. So that everyone can feel that their safety and the safety of their family is safeguarded while enjoying their time. By doing so, we build public confidence in entertainment facilities and national eventsand establish the Kingdom’s reputation as a safe destination for all citizens and visitors.
