Workplace Safety Track
The work environment encompasses a wide range of locations: From quiet administrative offices, to factories full of machinery, to high-rise construction workshops and construction sites, and more. The common denominator is the need to maintain the safety and health of workers to ensure that the wheel of production and development continues without accidents and injuries. Investing in occupational safety is an investment in both the worker and the economy, as a safe work environment increases productivity, raises morale, and reduces treatment and compensation costs. In Saudi Arabia, in line with the goals of Vision 2030 to improve the quality of life and work environment, concrete steps have been taken to enhance safety, and we are now witnessing an increase in compliance with safety standards to 71% of establishments, and a decrease in the rate of work injuries.
Our occupational safety association focuses on providing support and education to both employers and employees to ensure safe and healthy workplaces, taking into account the different needs of each type of work environment.
Office work environments
You may think of the administrative office as a risk-free environment, but it’ s not without health and safety challenges that can have a long-term impact. Our efforts include:
- Comfortable and safe working environment
- Electrical safety and utilities
- Mental and physical occupational health
- Evacuation and emergency plans
- First aid training in the workplace
- Culture of indifference
In short, our message to business owners: Give your employees a healthy and safe work environment, and they will be twice as loyal and giving . And for employees: Your workplace safety is an investment in your health and career.
Industrial work environments and construction sites
Factories, construction sites, and building sites are the backbone of development, but they also have the highest injury rates if safety measures are absent. Workers among heavy machinery, cranes, high scaffolding, chemicals or flammable materials face multiple hazards that require strict adherence to safety. Within this framework, we seek to:
- Promoting a ‘safety first’ culture
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):
- Safety in the use of equipment.
- Handling hazardous materials
- Near Miss Reporting
- On-site emergency preparedness
- Paying attention to worker health
Handling Hazardous Materials (Occupational)
We focus more on the specific aspects of professional handling of hazardous materials (chemical, biological, and radiological) in the work environment:
- Material categorization and storage
- Hazardous Waste Management
- Continuous education
Safety in handling hazardous materials is not just a job procedure, it is also safety for the community and the environment. A worker who is aware of the dangers of his material will be the first shield of protection for himself, his colleagues, and the people outside the walls of his workplace.
Occupational Mental Health
Employee mental health has become an integral part of the occupational safety and health equation. A stressful work environment without proper psychological support can lead to burnout and accidents due to lack of concentration or depression. Our association is bringing this issue to the forefront through initiatives such as:
- Awareness campaigns
- Periodic surveys for employee satisfaction and mental health
- Providing psychological support services
- Fatigue monitoring in critical functions
A healthy mind is inseparable from a healthy body in the workplace. When we take care of a worker’s mental health, we not only protect them on a personal level, we build a cohesive and collaborative workforce that is able to produce and create more effectively. The “Safety Everywhere” organization raises the slogan: “Happy Worker = Safer Work Environment”.
